Sugar Cane Juice Shop:
its one minute by foot from the kunafeh shop.
If you're visiting Jordan during the warm season, a stroll through downtown wouldn't be complete without trying the freshly made sugar cane juice at (Wasat el Balad) Sugar Cane.
Watch as they prepare it right in front of you with a special machine, and enjoy it in a refreshing half-liter glass.
It's the perfect way to cool down and experience a local treat!

Kunafeh:
This is a must-try dessert!
The most famous and oldest kunafeh in Jordan is found right here in downtown Amman.
(Habibah).
Look for the small entrance to this tiny shop, order your plate of kunafeh, and take it outside to enjoy in the bustling streets with the locals.
We recommend a 250g plate for one person—it's deliciously rich and satisfying!

Shahrazad Restaurant:
A local favorite, Shahrazad serves a variety of delicious baked meat trays. Enjoy the cozy, old-world ambiance while savoring dishes like kuftah with tahini or tomato. Conveniently located just across the street from Habibah Kunafeh!

al kalha Restaurant:
For an authentic taste of hummus and falafel, al kalha is the place to be!
one of the original restaurants in jordan, reasonable prices and very delicious plates.

Kebdet Nofal:
(Nofal Liver)
Even some locals don’t know about this hidden gem: if you love liver, you must try Kebdet Nofal! This small restaurant in downtown Amman serves freshly cooked liver sandwiches with an optional Jordanian spicy sauce, all for less than 1 JOD per sandwich.
Tucked away in a narrow alley, it's a must-visit spot.
Just head to the addressed street and ask the locals for Kebdet Nofal!

On your way to the old downtown, you'll find a beloved bakery that serves as the go-to breakfast spot for many locals heading to work each morning.
They offer freshly made ka'ek, a special bread that you can customize with ingredients like local thyme (za'tar), tomato, cheese, and arugula.
It's the perfect start to your morning in Amman!

dar ne'meh:
After exploring the Amman Citadel, you might feel hungry or just need a coffee break. Conveniently located right inside the Citadel parking area, you'll find a charming restaurant. Here, you can savor a local breakfast or dinner while enjoying stunning views of Amman.
It's the perfect spot to relax with a cup of tea or coffee before heading down to explore the old downtown.

Bab el Yemen Restaurant:
Every time we visit, it feels like we're savoring this delicious Yemeni food for the first time. From the freshly baked bread to the steaming meat jars straight from the oven, every bite is a delight. For the best experience, opt for the second-floor seating and choose the floor section instead of tables. It's an amazing culinary journey you won't want to miss!

first time my wife came to Amman, i picked her up from the airport and took here to this restaurant to try Hummus and Falafel.
She loved it!

IMPORTANT:

We strive to keep our recommendations current by regularly updating our list based on the quality of places or new discoveries we think are worth including.

For instance, we recently removed a famous old downtown falafel restaurant from our list due to declining food quality and cleanliness.

In its place, we added another restaurant that maintains high standards of both.

Al Quds Restaurant:
Remember the food section in our Jordan travel guide?
This is the restaurant to experience some of those dishes! With a wide variety of local cuisine, reasonable prices, and excellent quality, it's a must-try for an authentic taste of Jordan.
